Going on a big trip is HARD. Since you’re going through all this effort to ensure that every little single fashionable piece you have is packed, make sure to not blow it at the airport. You know what I mean. While we may never return to the time where taking a flight was an occasion to get SUPER dolled up, every good fashionista knows that what you wear TO the vacation is just as important as what you wear ON it.
Sure, it’s probably more comfortable to travel in a track suit, but you’ll never get upgraded to first class that way! (I hear it happens… I can dream can’t I?)
To do this blog today, I looked at a ton of OTHER blogs that chronicled celebs styles while at airports, and I’ve come to a few conclusions:
1.) You can’t afford anything they wear.
2.) It’s hella easy to look fresh and flawless when you’re not flying economy.
SO, I’ve compiled my own semi-helpful tips for all you jet-setters with a little help from The Collection Boutique. We’re balling on a budget people!
Here I am at my house, with my suitcase. AM I EVEN HERE RIGHT NOW? Yes, yes I am.
A quick first tip? Avoid tight flitting clothing. Opt for a billowy top that won’t wrinkle. A busy pattern can easily be toned down with a cardigan or jacket AND will hide the inevitable mid-flight coffee stain.
No big clunky belts. In fact, no belts at all! They will just slow you down whilst breezing through security. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Another helpful tidbit? Consider fabrics that have a little stretch in them. The stretch is for added comfort, while also ensuring you don’t look like a crumpled mess when you arrive wherever you’re going.
Call me a sucker, but I’m a huge fan of infomercials. Remember these little guys?
While it might not be socially acceptable (YET!) to buy a pair of pajama jeans, I swear to you, these are the next best thing.
I wear jeans pretty much everyday, but I never knew they could be THIS comfortable. Try them on. Life changing stuff here people.
To be honest, I’d probably change out these shoes for a nice pair of flats. Something easy to slip on and off. Notice I did not say flip flops. (Those aren’t gonna do you any favors when you discover your running behind and your gate is ALWAYS on the other side of the airport. )
I just like to pretend I’m taller in pictures.
Another thing to think about, keep the jewelry simple!
It’s just another pain when it comes to security AND it could possibly annoy you when you’re 10 hours into a flight.

Since I’m flying out of the country for the first time, I also wanted a little something cheeky.
USA! USA! USA!
I’ve worn these pants before – check the past fashion post here. Black James Jeans with zipper detailing.
If your style is more laid back, this could be the look for you. A stretchy black pant and an over-size tee? Throw on a hoodie and some dark sunglasses, and you’re ready to rock the runway airport.
And complete the look with a simple double necklace.

Flying used to be considered this exciting, ultra-glam EVENT, but these days, most people treat it like a horrible inconvenience. How do I know this? Juicy sweats and Uggs. I’m going on a 13 hour flight, I understand the desire to want to be comfortable. I just don’t think that should come at the cost of looking good.
After all, you never know who you might be sitting next to!
